Double Page Spread & Reflection #11

Great to see you!

Today, we will be seeing my double-page spread. In the double-page spread, I used the topics from the table of contents and wrote down reasons why dogs are good house pets. So, here is my double-page spread.

Doing this was a little bit stressful. The specific thing that was stressful was creating the double-page itself. It is supposed to be 11x17, however every time I clicked on custom size, it would never let me get the right size. It did get me frustrated, but I took a breath and researched how to properly do it. I ended up figuring out how to do it and the rest was easy.

As I was making my double-page spread, I wanted to make it very bubbly and in a very happy mood for the audience. I decided to do a light rainbow background as it could symbolize peace and new beginnings of having a pet dog. The paw prints in the background were for the magazine to be fun. I was going to do a template from Canva, but I went against it because I wanted to do it from scratch to see what I was capable of doing. I want to advance on doing it without having to rely on a template. To make it seem like a magazine, I added page numbers to the bottom of the page spread to make it seem like a real magazine.

The photos I used were original photos of my dog Oreo. I wanted to use two happy photos of Oreo and then one being serious. I chose a serious photo of my dog because it was for the pawsitively protective. This was to help show that dogs can do it all from being happy to serious. The two other photos were to create a happy and lively mood. This is to try to persuade the audience to want to get a dog for their home.

That is all, thank you!

Table of Contents & Reasoning #10

Welcome back, everyone!

We are going to continue with the rest of the magazine. I am going to show the table of contents and why I did it the way I did.

So, as I created the table of contents, I wanted it to be playful. My magazine will mainly focus on why people should get a dog for their home. Dogs are associated with playfulness and being bubbly. Having a dog brings out the best of people since they are sweet animals. The table of contents will be an introduction to setting the mood and tone of this magazine, which can brighten up the audience when they read the magazine. I decided to use a template from Canva to help guide myself, however, I changed the template to be multi-color so I can make it more fun.

The gradient of the multi-colors was to interest the audience into reading the rest of the magazine. I didn't want to do any dull colors for this magazine because I think that it would not fit the theme of having a dog as a pet. Having a dog should be fun and feeling joy in someone's heart. Bright and fun colors will help people feel the joy of having a dog and make them want to get one to join their family.

I did use a template from Canva. However, I just changed the colors of it. I used the same font from the template since it was a nice and simple font to make it feel like a fun yet professional magazine. I did put a little description below the topics so the audience understand what we will talk about and what we will get into.

See you in the next blog!

Magazine Cover & Reasoning #9

Welcome back, lovely people!

For my preliminary task, I had to create a cover page for my magazine. I created my cover page from a template I found on Canva. I decided to use a template as a guide so it can be much easier for me to make the cover look good. Now, take a paws and soak up the adorableness of this cover page!

Personally, without any bias in this blog, I think this cover page is a real paw-pleaser. When I learned about creating the magazine, I wanted it to be something enjoyable, yet something I love. When those two things combined, it created my dog. I have always loved animals, specifically my mini-baby Yoda, and animals have always been a topic that I enjoy talking about. So, let me do a breakdown of my cover page.

Background:

The photo I picked out was of my dog sitting. My dog Oreo and I were playing around until he stopped and stared at me because I had gone to go get a quick snack and eaten it in front of him. He always likes to watch any one of my family eat in hopes that we would give him a piece. Because of this, I decided to snap of photo of him because he was in a perfect position for a photo (I ended up giving him a piece).

Masthead:

The title "Pawfect Magazine" was to capture many people who are animals or dog lovers. When people glance at the magazine cover, they would immediately giggle because of the silly title. Because it makes the audience laugh, it pulls them into getting the magazine and looking through it to see what it is about. Just from the word "Paw", emphasizes that the topic would be about dogs. Having two colors as a title also makes it entertaining for the audience, knowing that it won't be boring.

Subheading:

The subheading "Why Dogs Are the Best House Pets" shows what we would be talking about in the magazine. This would help the audience know what the magazine would be getting into and would help if they are interested in reading it or not. It will go into detail on the different reasons why dogs are the best pets to have in your home.

Thank you so much for reading!

Camera Movements & Composition #8

 Howdy folks!

We studied camera movement and composition in class. A film's composition and movement are important components to consider. Although a shot's composition can consist of many elements, the main ones are depth and framing.

        Depth of Field:

Shallow Focus

This kind of focus makes it obvious that the directors only want you to give attention to that one character. It's not really possible to see what's coming or happening on the back. Both the character and the audience are unaware of their surroundings.

Standard Focus

Though you can see other things going on in the background, this focus is primarily on the character. For instance, the main focus in this photo is the llama; however, you can still see the different color glass, but it is not the main focus.

Deep Focus

You can see everything clearly when you have this focus. The objects that the characters engage in with or pass by are shown. You may be able to relate to the actions of the characters in that certain shot.

        Framing:

Rule of Third

Using the rule of thirds might help you organize images. There are three divisions in the frame. The rule of thirds would apply to anything in an image that is in the left or right third.
