All About Me! #3

Welcome back!

Now before we start to work on the magazine and understand this course, I want to let you know more about me. I am going to talk about the many things that inspired me and made me who I am today.

To start off, my name is Cindy, and I am a senior in high school who is a part of the Cambridge International program. I have a lot of hobbies; however, I would say my top three would be reading, watching YouTube videos about cold cases and interrogating criminals, and writing. These hobbies are the definition of Cindy.

Ever since middle school, I started to read a lot. I have been obsessed with reading thrillers, horror, classics, and literature. Reading books has also influenced me to become an author (on the side, we'll learn why). I've written many short stories just for fun because I enjoyed them so much and it also helped me to expand my imagination.

When I was in elementary, I watched a lot of Inside Edition about all the different types of crimes, some more gruesome than others. I shouldn't have been watching that at a young age, however because of that, I have a passion for criminal justice and criminology. I want to work for the FBI and help end human trafficking, along with decreasing the rest of the crimes in this world. Watching YouTube videos helps me get more knowledge of the field I plan on studying and I simply like watching them because it's interesting to watch why some cases went cold and learn the motives criminals have.

Apart from the Cambridge program, I am also a part of the Law program at my school, who would've guessed? I have been set on what I want to do in my life for years and I am not planning on changing my career path any time soon. Since I am in my senior year, things have been stressful because I have been juggling trying to get the perfect SAT score, applications, scholarships, school clubs, and focusing on the classes I'm currently taking. I am taking Media Studies because I have heard people talk highly about this course. Many have said it's a fun course, especially if you're a creative person. So, here I am.

See you in the next blog!

Reflection on Syllabus #2

Welcome back to my blog!

As I have previously stated in the last blog, I am making a magazine for my AICE Media Studies course. Truth be told, I do not have any experience when it comes to editing. The only thing that comes close to it is a digital technology class I took in the 10th grade. However, our main focus in that class was to know how to use Word and a bit about the business industry. Nevertheless, I am positive that doing these blogs and working on the magazine will help expand my knowledge when it comes to editing.

Here are some three aspects of the course I'm looking forward to:
  1. I am looking forward to finding a topic that I love and constructing the magazine for it.
  2. I'm looking forward to expressing my creativity. I want these blogs and the magazine to look amazing!
  3. I am looking forward to learning about the different camera angles to help make my magazine look outstanding. I am familiar with photo taking and want to increase my knowledge of it.
Now, here are three aspects of this course that make me feel nervous:
  1. The editing makes me feel wary due to the lack of editing skills I have; I don't know much, and I'm nervous it will make this course feel hard.
  2. I am nervous that I will not understand the media language or the audience's responses.
  3. I am also nervous about not doing too good overall; I often times give myself false hope and don't do as well as I hope.

I hope that after this course I will consider myself somewhat of an expert in media analysis. I am going to make my media as interesting as it can be and engage with my audience as much as I can! I want to learn more and have more of an understanding when it comes to the local, global, or international media. Lastly, I truly hope that my creativity has grown so much that it will be beneficial for me to use in college.

Overall, I am excited to see how everything will play out in this course. Granted, I am a bit nervous, but my exhilaration is just taking over. I know I am going to explore and learn a lot of things that will help me get the knowledge that I need. I am positive that I will be able to accomplish all my goals throughout this course.

Thank you for reading, till next time!

Introduction Blog #1

Welcome, my name is Cindy & pleased to see you here!

This blog aims to provide an overview of the information I obtained and the process I took to put together this project for my AICE Media Studies course. I will go in-depth into the preparation process for this class. My magazine will contain four pages. There would be a cover page, a content page, and a double-paged spread.

I will work actively with others as I create my magazine, yet I will also emphasize my own original ideas and products. There would be weekly updates regarding my process, these include my ideas, thoughts, and improvement progress. These would be posted as I work on my magazines.

        Main Tasks:
  • Form a group and brainstorm concepts for the magazine's primary topic as I work on a project. Understanding the suggestions of my teammates will help me produce the best version of my magazine.
  • Main goals will be accomplished through preliminary activities that focus on increasing my abilities in contexts and technology. Analyze and assess the material I've produced all year long, including my blog and media products.
  • Determining the topic that will be best conveyed in the magazine requires a lot of research and discussions with my teammates.
        Preliminary Tasks:

My preliminary mission is to ensure that my magazine and blogs are finished when they should be and that they have all the required content. I want to expand my knowledge of media studies and get an in-depth understanding of everything associated with it. I want to have learned how to create a modest magazine by the time this course ends and my magazine is finished. I would also want to expand my creativity by learning to use certain programs like Canva to help create and design my magazine.

That wraps up this blog, till next time!
